The Science of Breath work, Voice work, and Singing for health

Singing

Singing is a natural anti-depressant. It has been proven to reduce stress, boost the immune system, enhance memory, and stimulate the release of the love and connection hormone oxytocin.

Voice work

Vibrational sound healing has been used for thousands of years by many tribal communities using sonic frequencies to elicit altered states of consciousness, and is said to release trapped emotions or stuck energy from the body. It is now recognised in the treatment of addiction, pain, sleep, anxiety, trauma, and depression.

Breathwork

Through breathing alone you can learn how to access different systems in body, reducing stress and anxiety, increasing creativity, memory and focus, improving sleep and cardiovascular health, and athletic performance.

Connection

Oxytocin is produced when we sing and bond with each other in a group. Oxytocin has amazing health benefits, including helping wounds heal faster, and slowing down the aging process. Oxytocin also lowers blood pressure, and acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory for the cardiovascular system.

Body work

Moving the body helps our energy (electricity) flow through us more easily as well as keeping us flexible. Yoga, Tai Chi, and Chi Gong are examples of energy exercise that connect breath, and movement for whole body health and wellbeing.

Mind

The power of the mind is incredible! Studies have shown that the power of belief not only affects our outlook, but our biology changes too. Through positive thinking, we have the power to change the way our cells respond to our environment, so finding joy can literally make us physically and mentally healthier.
